Cabo de Rama Fort

A ruined Portuguese fort on a cliff above the Arabian Sea — the best sunset viewpoint in South Goa.

The fort at Cabo de Rama is older than the Portuguese — Hindu rulers held the cape long before it was rebuilt with bastions and a small church in the 18th century. Today it is a set of ramparts on a headland, a whitewashed chapel, and a view along the coast that stretches to Palolem on a clear day.

Below the fort a steep path leads to a small, usually empty beach. Most guests pair the fort with lunch in Agonda on the way back — the two are on the same road.

Best time: Late afternoon, staying for sunset from the western wall.
